Collection: Thinking Matters

Thinking Matters brings together board games and hands-on puzzles selected by a paediatric occupational therapist at Lumos Play. Choose a starting point around your child’s interests, how they like to play and the level of adult support they need.

Where to start

  • Explore first games together: Try Where’s Bear? for hide-and-seek and stacking, or Acorn Soup for picture recipes, counting and pretend cooking. Both are recommended from 2 years.
  • Build and solve picture puzzles: Start with Bunny Boo (2–5 years), build towers with Castle Logix (3–8 years), or layer colours and patterns with Dress Code (4+). Begin with an easier challenge and explore the pieces together.
  • Work towards a shared goal: Feed the Woozle (3+) adds silly movement, Race to the Treasure (5+) invites path planning, and Gnomes at Night (6+) brings talking and listening into a shared maze adventure.
  • Try a solo challenge: Arrange magnetic shapes with Tangoes Animals, or fit pieces around sliding blockers with IQ Mini XXL. Both are recommended from 6 years; children can also compare ideas with a grown-up.

Age recommendations are a starting point. Check each product page for player numbers, how to play, what’s included and the manufacturer’s safety guidance. Choose an achievable challenge, offer help when welcome and keep play enjoyable.
